Gabonese president vows to strengthen comprehensive cooperative partnership with China

LIBREVILLE, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba on Friday praised China's support for Gabon's economic and social development, vowing to strengthen bilateral comprehensive cooperative partnership.

The Gabonese head of state made the pledge while welcoming the assumption of office of China's new Ambassador to Gabon Li Jinjin at the Presidential Palace.

Bongo said since the establishment of diplomatic relations 48 years ago, the two countries have maintained sincerity, mutual trust and respect.

Gabon firmly adheres to the one-China principle, reaffirmed the Gabonese president, who stressed that there is but one China and Taiwan is part of China, and the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China.

China and Gabon share a traditional friendship and growing mutual trust, Li said, adding that China-Gabonese cooperation has borne fruit in various fields.

The two sides maintain close coordination in regional and international affairs, and China is willing to work together with Gabon to lift their comprehensive cooperative partnership to a new level, Li said.
