Airbus signs agreement with China National Aviation Fuel Group to purchase SAF for its delivery flight operations in Tianjin

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus has signed an agreement with China National Aviation Fuel Group to purchase sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for its delivery flight operations in Tianjin, according to a statement published by Airbus on its official Wechat account on Monday.

Produced by SINOPEC Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co., the fuel is made from used cooking oil, according to Airbus.

Airbus will begin flight operations using SAF before the end of the year. It will be the first time for Airbus to perform customer deliveries using SAF in China.

SAF is a sustainably-produced aviation fuel made from feedstock ranging from used fat, oil and grease to municipal and forestry waste.
