China's forex market transacts 23.42 trillion yuan in September

BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's foreign exchange (forex) market recorded transactions worth 23.42 trillion yuan, equivalent to 3.36 trillion U.S. dollars, in September, said official data released Friday.

Specifically, the transaction volume of the client market totaled 3.67 trillion yuan last month, while that of the interbank market stood at 19.75 trillion yuan, said the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.

In terms of products, the cumulative transaction volume of the spot market was 8.45 trillion yuan, and that of the derivatives market was 14.97 trillion yuan in September.

The country's forex market transaction volume totaled 180.27 trillion yuan in the first nine months.

Friday's data also showed that the country's commercial banks saw a net forex settlement surplus of 118.5 billion U.S. dollars between January and September.
