A delegation of 25 people from Taiwan business groups visited Xiamen's free trade area on Sept 17, looking for new business opportunities.

One company from Taiwan that has taken advantage of those opportunities is LIHPAO Life Science, which has set up a branch in Xiamen's free trade area. Li Minghui, deputy general manager of the company, said that the preferential policies and innovative services are the main reasons for the move.

Li added that the precision medicine developed by LIHPAO is very popular in the Chinese mainland and the company hopes to cooperate with local manufacturers in the development of testing machines.

Wang Qi'er, chief strategy officer of Trade Promotion Association of Taiwan Belt and Road Initiative, said during the visit that Taiwan has a limited market while there is a great potential in Chinese mainland's domestic demand. He said the Belt and Road Initiative and the "BRICS plus" model will bring more business opportunities to surrounding countries and regions.

Li Rongmin, director of the Taibei office of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, said that although many Taiwan business people know that the Chinese mainland has established free trade areas, few of them understand it.

Li believed that to organize Taiwan business people to visit Xiamen's free trade areas can help them learn about and seize new opportunities.

Founded in April 2015, Xiamen free trade area focuses on industrial cooperation with Taiwan. Two national cross-Straits youth entrepreneurial innovation bases have been set up to serve as platforms for the startups and cooperation between young people from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
