OTTAWA, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- A Canadian man is trying to promote Chinese culture by launching sightseeing tours with an antique sailboat he owns.

Monte Gisborne has long been interested in Chinese culture and the legendary Chinese navigator Zheng He.

During the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Zheng's fleet had sailed to dozens of countries and regions in Asia and Africa, several decades before Christopher Columbus set foot on America.

Gisborne bought the boat in 2016, which was built in Hong Kong more than half a century ago.

Gisborne spent five months renovating the boat, and after obtaining a license from the Canadian government, he initiated boat tours on Chinese culture in Richmond.
