A train loaded with China-produced building stones left Wushanzhan Station in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, on Thursday for the Lao capital Vientiane in ten days, according to China Railway Wuhan Group Co.,Ltd.
The cross-border freight train marks the first special train transporting building stones from Wuhan to Vientiane via the China-Laos Railway. Compared with shipping by sea, the freight train saves more time and reduces transportation cost.
The newly-launched international freight train in Wuhan is expected to upgrade and expand the logistics links between inland areas in central China and Laos, as well as play a positive role in deepening economic and trade exchanges and accelerating international logistics.
The China-Laos Railway, which began operations in December 2021, stretches over 1,000 kilometers, linking Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, with Vientiane in Laos.
