AT&S plant among top 100 smart factories in Shanghai

A Shanghai-based AT&S plant, the new generation of printed circuit board intelligent factory, was listed as one of the top 100 smart factories in Shanghai by the city's municipal authority, reported Xinmin Evening News Monday.

The report quoted an announcement by Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, who released the list ealier this month. AT&S (China) Co., Ltd. also confirmed the information in a press release available on its website. 

As a leading global manufacturer of semiconductor package substrates and high-end printed circuit boards, AT&S is Austria's largest company invested in China, which has been cultivating Chinese market for more than 22 years, with production bases in Shanghai and Chongqing.

AT&S's plant in Shanghai mainly produces high density interconnect (HDI) substrate for mobile devices and automotive electronics, and the company has become the world's largest HDI manufacturing base since 2008, according to China Printed Circuit Association (CPCA).

The integrated circuit and microelectronics industry in China will continue to grow, and AT&S plans to expand into new digital application markets in the future, said Chen-Jiang Phua, chairman of the board of AT&S China.

Shanghai local authorities have also been dedicated to improving local business environment, he noted.
