Chinese enterprises invested US$8.55 bln in countries along B&R from Jan. to Aug.

From January to August this year, Chinese enterprises invested US$8.55 billion in total in 52 countries along the Belt and Road routes, down 10 percent year-on-year, which accounts for 12.4 percent of China's total foreign direct investment during that period of time.

The main investment target countries are Singapore, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, Russia, Pakistan and Cambodia according to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

Chinese enterprises signed 3,164 engineering project contracts in 61 countries along the Belt and Road routes from January to August. The total contracted value amounted to US$84.51 billion, up 21 percent year-on-year, which accounts for 56.5 percent of the total amount of the foreign project contracts the Chinese enterprises signed during that period of time.

The Chinese enterprises finished with a business turnover of US$43.25 billion in total in projects in countries and regions along the Belt and Road routes, up 1.2 percent year-on-year, which accounts for 48.9 percent of the total turnover realized by Chinese enterprises overseas during that period of time, the Commerce Ministry stated.
