Gansu’s trade volume with B&R countries exceeds 10 bln yuan

With the continued development of opening up, the trade volume between Gansu Province and countries along the Belt and Road routes exceeded 10 billion yuan in 2016, according to the government work report delivered at the annual session of the 12th Gansu Provincial People's Congress, Chinanews.com reported.

In recent three years, Gansu has carried out a series of exchanges and cooperation with relevant countries in Traditional Chinese Medicine, tourism, culture and equipment manufacturing.

The report says that in 2016 Gansu developed substantial capacity cooperation with 16 countries, with actual foreign investment reaching US$619 mln, a fourfold increase, and in 2017 it will focus on international capacity cooperation in such fields as energy resources, equipment manufacturing, construction, agricultural products, TCM planting and processing and transformation and upgrading of foreign services trade.

Since the Belt and Road Initiative was launched, Gansu has established 13 overseas TCM centers and nine overseas trade representative offices. The province opened seven international air routes and launched the first China-South Asia highway-railway multimodal freight train service and the Lanzhou-Minsk international freight train service.

Last year, port construction in Gansu also made progress, and several inland ports and airports will be built this year.

At the same time, Gansu will strive to launch construction of the China (Lanzhou) Free Trade Zone.
