Zambia hails China's AVIC International for good quality road works

Chinese construction firm AVIC International has been commended over the quality of road construction works in Zambia's Chongwe district, a civic leader said on Friday.

The Chinese firm has been contracted to work on township roads in the district situated in Lusaka Province.

Evans M'hambi, Chongwe Deputy Mayor, said after inspecting the works to check on the progress that he was satisfied with the quality of woks by the contractor on the 8 km road upgrade project.

He spoke with admiration of the works on the roads, which were being upgraded from gravel to bituminous standard.

He said AVIC International had exhibited good workmanship and hoped that the works would be completed within schedule.

The civic leader commended the contractor for being up to speed with ensuring that the works are of high quality, adding that the works were at 50 percent of completion.

"AVIC international is executing the works in a very satisfactory manner. It is for this reason that we are very confident that other works which will be done by the company in the Central Business District (CBD) will equally be of high quality," he said.

Meanwhile, Mathew Ngosa, a civic leader from one of the wards in the district commended the Chinese firm for employing some youths from the ward.

He also thanked the contractor for being very committed to duty as seen by the speed and quality of the world so far.
