Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith has just led a delegation to inspect the construction site of China-Laos railway in Lao Luang Prabang province.

Luang Prabang Station is an important passenger and cargo station of China-Laos railway. Located in Luang Prabang province, it covers an area of 156 hectares and owns 4 inbound-outbound lines as well as 2 freight lines. The planned area of the station is 8,000 square meters. At present, 91 percent of project design has been completed.

The Lao prime minister gave high affirmation on the speed and quality of the project, and was pleased about the achievements of China-Laos railway at this stage.

The China-Laos railway has a total length of over 414 km with over 60 percent of bridges and tunnels, linking Mohan-Boten border gate in northern Laos and capital Vientiane. Operating speed on the route is designed at 160 km per hour.

The China-Laos railway is the first overseas route connecting with the railway system in China, using Chinese technology, equipment and investment.

After completion, it will help reduce the price of Laos' export goods in international market and boost tourism development in Laos, said local official.
