[Introduction] On January 20, 2023, the launch ceremony of the third phase of the FAO-China Uganda South-South Cooperation Project was held. The FAO-China Uganda South-South Cooperation Project, as an essential part of the implementation of the "Nine Programs" between China and Africa, will benefit nearly 10,000 local farmers, including 30 percent women, and provide training opportunities for 200 agricultural technical officials.
[Introduction] Since 2011, China has successively established Juncao technology pilot bases in African and South Pacific countries, such as Rwanda, Central Africa, Lesotho, Papua New Guinea, and Fiji. It has carried out technical training and promotion of Juncao projects through the dispatch of technical expert groups and has jointly held hundreds of Juncao technology training classes in China, training tens of thousands of students from developing countries. Juncao technology has driven local villagers to become prosperous.
[Introduction] China and Indonesia's "Two Countries, Twin Parks" project is based on the Fuzhou Yuanhong Investment Zone in Fujian Province and zones such as the Bintan Industrial Estate in Indonesia. It explores establishing a twin park cooperation mechanism that integrates industries, facilities, and policies. In 2019, the concept of the "Two Countries, Twin Parks" between China and Indonesia was proposed; in January 2021, the "Two Countries, Twin Parks" memorandum between China and Indonesia was signed. According to the agreement, under the project, a cooperation platform will be built, with the food industry chain and supply chain as the main body, creating a green channel for investment and trade between China and Indonesia.
[Introduction] As a major pilot project for jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has entered a new stage of enrichment and expansion, and the cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural field continues to deepen. At the end of 2019, China Machinery Engineering Corporation (referred to as "CMEC") participated in establishing the China-Pakistan Agricultural and Industrial Cooperation Information Platform. Starting in 2021, it collaborated with Sichuan Litong Food Group to carry out the China-Pakistan chili pepper plantation project. By the end of 2022, agricultural enterprises from Pakistan were introduced to join the cooperation, establishing six pilot areas of chili pepper plantations.
[Introduction] On March 5, 2017, the rural well-drilling project officially started in Senegal. The rural well-drilling project involves 12 out of the 14 regions in Senegal. Each water supply system includes a well, a water tower, water distribution pipelines, and water distribution facilities. The project’s overall maximum daily water supply capacity reaches 80,000 cubic meters. The project has also created job opportunities for over 3,000 local people.
[Introduction] The China-aided Burundi Pilot Farming Research Center is located in Bubanza Province, northwest Burundi. It started construction in June 2018 and was completed in May 2020. STECOL Corporation undertook the project. The project's total area is 12.5 hectares, with a total construction area of approximately 3430 square meters. The pilot center comprises office and living areas, agricultural product processing areas, breeding pilot areas, and pilot planting areas.
[Introduction] The celebration ceremony for the sugar production of the Ethiopia Tana Beles No. 1 Sugar Factory project, constructed by CAMCE, China Machinery Industry Group Co., Ltd., was held in the Amhara region in northern Ethiopia on June 6, 2021. According to the introduction, the project, once completed, will produce 200,000 tons of refined sugar annually and create nearly 10,000 job opportunities, providing impetus for the economic growth of the region and even Ethiopia. CAMCE took over the project construction in September 2019, and the sugar factory produced its first can of sugar at the end of May 2021.
[Introduction] In 2016, Xi'an Aiju Grain and Oil Industrial Group established an agricultural product logistics processing park in Kazakhstan to carry out deep processing of local agricultural products. Nowadays, the Aiju Agricultural Product Logistics Processing Park has become an important project for China-Kazakhstan green cooperation. The company has built a transnational industrial chain integrating the North Kazakhstan Region, Alashankou, and Xi'an, which support each other and develop in synergy, driving the development of local retail and planting services and increasing local income.
