Chinese meticulous peony paintings and related artistic products were warmly welcomed by attendees to a thematic exhibition of the 2023 United Nations Chinese Language Day event held in Vienna on May 2.

Created by local artists at Juye County of Heze City in east China's Shandong province, seven Chinese meticulous peony paintings were collected and saved by international organizations such as the UN Office at Vienna, United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization.

Li Song, China's Permanent Representative to the UN in Vienna, and other officials of international organizations under the UN also gave thumbs up to the Chinese peony paintings showcased on the Belt and Road thematic exhibition for calligraphy works and paintings of reputed artists from Shandong.

This year, the 2023 UN Chinese Language Day's event, which runs from May 2 to May 5, is co-hosted by China's Permanent Mission to the UN in Vienna and Shandong provincial government.

With the theme of "Home of Confucius, Hub of the Belt and Road - A Real Story of the Global Civilization Initiative", the event presents to the world the profound culture, beautiful landscape and time-honored history of China's Shandong province as the home of Confucius and an important hub of the Belt and Road.
