Guizhou leads country in digital economy growth for third consecutive year

Guizhou led the country in digital economy growth for three consecutive years from 2015 to 2017, ranked second in the country in the number of green data centers and kept ahead in the country in several fields.

On February 25, 2016, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission approved Guizhou to construct China's first national big data comprehensive pilot zone. Over the two years, Guizhou has advanced the construction of the comprehensive pilot zone and the big data strategic action in a coordinated way, and conducted seven systematic tests: data opening and sharing, integrated use of data centers, innovative use of big data, agglomerative development of the big data industry, big data resources circulation and exchange, international big data exchanges and cooperation, institutional innovation of big data.

The agglomerative development of the big data industry has brought about new driving forces of economic growth. Data show that Guizhou's big data industry has developed rapidly. From 2014 to 2017, Guizhou's added value of electronic information manufacturing above the designated scale, software revenues and online retail turnover grew by 78.9 percent, 35.9 percent and 38.2 percent on average. The contribution of big data to Guizhou's economic growth exceeded 20 percent.

In 2017, Guizhou's electronic information manufacturing contributed 15.3 percent of industrial growth and drove industrial growth by 1.5 percent to become the second industrial growth point. Guizhou's telecommunication revenues and business volume were up 14.3 percent and 146.2 percent, both ranking first in the country. The telecommunication industry has become an important factor supporting the growth of Guizhou's GDP.

According to the white book on digital economy released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, Guizhou led the country in digital economy growth in digital economy growth for three consecutive years from 2015 to 2017, and Guizhou's digital economy grew by 37.2 percent in 2017.Guizhou also advanced the test of international big data exchanges and cooperation, created environment for big data development and striven for resources. "Big Data Expo" has become an international industrial event. Having been held successfully for four consecutive years, it has become one of the most influential and professional international big data events with the highest profile and business elitists. Guizhou also built capital, technology and idea exchange and cooperation platforms, successfully hosted China International Big Data Mining Competition, Pain-point Seeker, AI Global Competition and other events, created exchange and cooperation platforms for all startups and innovators keen on big data research and development, lowered the threshold and reduced the cost of dream fulfillment.Besides, Guizhou advanced international and domestic exchanges and cooperation, carried out multi-field, multi-level and multi-form collaboration with other national big data comprehensive pilot zones and other provinces and municipalities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt to promote the coordinated development of the regional digital economy, pushed forward digital "Belt and Road" strategic cooperation, built a community of shared future for cyberspace, introduced a number of world-renowned big data enterprises and promoted the globalization of Guizhou's big data industry.
